I am a gamer. I love video games and enjoy board and card games too. I realized last night that video games have always been a core enjoyment in my life. Some may see that as sad and others okay. Me, I'm okay with it because as games change so do the technology they are played on and I am a technowhore.

Umm. Sitting at work realizing its been a busy past couple of days. Things have slowed down a bit and I realized I haven't posted anything in a while.
I through a tidbit up here and there on my facebook but really its best for those quick 1 or 2 line statements.
Work - Slowly driving me mad.
Home - Brief respid from work
Cheri - Still broken but I love her. Do what I can to help keep the gal running :)(bad joke, I know)
PC & Table Top games - Keeping me sane. Yea WOW, FallOut 3, and Zombapocalypse (Zombie survival AR game I'm playing in Hero System with friends.)
Some where between 50/60 hour work weeks, Taking care of the chores at home, Caring for Cheri and staying sane I need to fit school and physical fitness. I've become such a home body. I get out once in a while. I have plans to go out next Friday. But can I find another 4-6 hours a week for school and 7-10 hours a week for exerciser. Thinking about it more its not a matter of can but how because I need to.
I'm feeling myself getting older. I feel heavier. But I'm the about the same weight I've been since about the end of high school. I've though about martial arts but the there expensive.
I was in Gold's Gym through work, but my scheduling was different then others.
Hey, thespatula gave me a 7 day pass for the Fitness19 up the road within walking distance. Will plan on checking that out tonight. I think I'm just loosing some muscle mass and my metabolism is slow. The walking and work outs will help with that and its close to home.
Schools a little trickier. My work schedule fluctuates from day to day, If I get in too early I still run the risk of leaving late and If I come in too late it looks bad as a manager. As Manager I must always be available for escalations. Cant turn off my phone. Always a disruption to class.I've missed days of class in the past due to work. Online or weekend classes. Maybe Online and Saturday but must leave Sunday open for stress relief. But looking at class schedules theses not much in the way of courses I need those days. Privet school or university? May have a more fitting schedule but would be less forgiving on missed classes and cost way too much. Has to be community college. I've asked for time off for class before but it always comes down to as long as things are taken care of... Cop out statement of non decision of my boss. But lets face it, my team takes a lot of micromanagement and help which brings me back to schools a little trickier. No answer for School yet.
*Sigh* As I type this boss come in and say we have to get 6 system up on a new rack tonight.
Rack has power already but no switch. I hope we have some spare fiber laying around. And as I'm a person short today I have to take care of it because I'm responsible for my team and my team is responsible for the Data Centers (DC). I need more people, or people who don't call in sick so much. I've already had to impose an attendance tracking policy for my department. A couple of people are gonna have to be written up soon. Doesn't look like I'm getting home before 8pm tonight. Might take a little dinner break at 6pm. Go home eat and then head to the DC. I have'nt had a lunch break in 2 days but ehh there is muffins and bagels in the break room. Sometime being a Manager isn't worth the extra 10K per year but I am happy to have a job so I guess I should'nt bitch too much.
Yep. Yep. Yep. Speaking of having a Job I should start working on getting stuff together to take out to the DC. Gonna be another long day. |

I've seen a lot of people doing a lot of things with their hair lately.
I should play around with mine more.
As a manager I think I can only get away with so much as far as color, so if I do color it would have to be a color found in nature.
But I was also thinking about cutting it, not too short but the long hair has been getting in my way lately.

| New Bed Problems. |

So Cheri and I got a new bed. Our hopes are that shes more comfortable in it and can fall asleep faster and get a better nights rest. The only problem so far is despite the fact it's a Cal King she still manages to find a way to fall asleep taking up the whole bed.
Don't have the heart to wake her up.
She'll roll around and make some room for me eventually. |

Greetings from the second day of NVision08. I’m actually writing this during the VGL (Video Games Live) intermission. I got to say the show is absolutely fantastic.
The selection of games is awesome and the music/orchestra is spectacular.
There was a live action Space Invaders where if wave 1 was cleared in 2:00 min the winner would receive a VGL Mame box. Regrettably he ran out of lives. I was rooting for him. LOL. Of course lots of music from games just recently announced/soon to be released “Crysis” and “Diablo III” and more.
More Later. Intermission almost over.
Its later, and I’m at home.
Post intermission there was more music goodness. Castlevania, Halo, Kingdom Harts, Star Craft II ,World or Warcraft, Zelda and a number of special guests. http://www.videogameslive.com/index.php?story=178
The show was absolutely wonderful.
Overall NVision went very well, Yesterday I got to meet Tricia Helfer “6 from Battle Star Galactica”, Buzz Aldrin and Eileen Collins”. I was asked by Buzz to give Tiamat_Dragon a hug because she couldn’t be here.
Lots of games on display and on demo. I got a chance to play the new Bionic Commando, Mirrors Edge, Crysis, Battlefield Heroes, Spore, and more.
There are lots of exhibits, swag and giveaways. My friend Mark won a new Video card and an 800 Watt power supply. Good on him he’s building a new system on a budget anyway. So far I won a 2 gig USB flash drive.
I attended a lot of useful panels, Over Clocking, Case Moding, GPU design and Parallel computing, etc.
Regrettably I will not get to meet Adam and Jamie “Myth Busters”. They are closing the show on Wednesday and I did not take that day off and I can’t skip out of work for it.
Since tonight is my last night, I played a little more and when we left gave him all my raffle tickets. Maybe he’ll win more stuff tomorrow a lot of stuff is “Must be present to win” but I’m entered into a lot of stuff that I do not need to be present for.
During the last two days I bumped into countless co workers. Most from when I worked at EA. It was good to see many of them and catch up.
If there is an NVision in San Jose next year I’m so there. I like local and I’ll take time off for the full con and participate in the BYOC Lan Party.
Time for Dinner then Sleep. I is a tired kitty.

So Cheri has been at Stanford Hospital since Monday undergoing neurological observation.
They are gonna try to get to the root of her seizures and hopefully better control them.
They have had to reduce her drugs over the last few days but they finally got her to have a couple of seizures today. She should be back on her full meds and home by Sunday with more info and more hope.
Also I registered for Nvision08 a convention sponsored by Nvidia in San Jose

I want to go see Video Games Live as a present to myself.
August 26, 2008 San Jose Civic Auditorium as part of NVISION 08.
I missed my chance last year to go see Play! A VIDEO GAME SYMPHONY.
So I want to check out NVISION 08 and catch a performance of Video Games Live.
Hopefully I can afford the tickets soon before the 6pm showing is sold out also. |

I have been a strong fan of DSL for about 10 years!
However recent events over the last year or so are really making me question my loyalty to DSL.
Last DSL line we had just wasn't enough to sustain our household of 5 high bandwidth users we went dual honed. Cable and DSL. When it worked it was nice.
Now that we have moved Our x roommate kept the cable and gave us the dsl to try to save us time.
We were going to go with cable TV and Internet in our new place but the location has not had cable run through the park so cable for us now is not an option.
Our x roommate put the move order in with comcast Monday June 30th. and the order for DSL on July 2nd.
His cable internet was provisioned and working the next day.
DSLExtreme had commit date of July 8th and still not working. AT&T has finished the disconnect order from the old address...??? The old address hasn't had dial done since June 30th!!!
New commit date of July 16th. ALMOST 2 Fracking weeks! This does not include any shipping time we already have the equipment.
Thinking back DSL has always had a piss pore provisioning time. The fastest has been about a week. We've had earthlink and DSL Extreme and I don't blame the provider, DSLExtreme has always been a good service but every single delay has been with AT&T (the TelCo). I think they drag their feet deliberately to make providers look bad and to pimp their DSL service to look good. Its not fair and it sucks ass to the customers who want their internet sooner rather then later and don't want to go with AT&T.
*Sigh*.. I have the nets at work but poor Tiamat_dragon and Durandall don't necessarily have that luxury. I miss WOW, I miss my pod casts, I miss the games, I miss my pron.

No Internet at our new place till the 8th.
But I needed to pick some stuff at work and decided to hop on my computer to update myself on things, check e-mail and post in LJ.
Also wanted to send a shout out for those who helped us move.
